We seem to have some character design recycling going on here in K-ON!. Strangely, it doesn’t bother me as much as I think it should, probably because their personalities are likeable and not identical copies of other characters, and the episode is presented well. Is anyone else in love with the ending theme? It’s been stuck in my head since I heard the first 5 seconds. The only thing that worries me is the guitarist in the ending theme – I hear chord changes, but I don’t see hands moving… Hopefully it’s not like this in the episode body, especially concert scenes. With the mention of NEETs, it’s probably directed toward the otaku crowd, but if you like bands and light comedic drama then this might be a show for you. I’m definitely going to be picking this series up; I probably won’t be blogging about every episode though.
So maybe the personality is quite opposite between mio and zange, but heck, mio is a (visually) mirrored version of zange…

zange huh. good pic. a lot of people compare mio to yomi from ga-rei zero but i there’s something off about that which zange picks up better. despite the hair being different.
Yeah, I also thought of Zange when I saw Mio. They are very similar. However, I believe this will be a good series and I will definitely keep on watching it.
I can’t believe Zange-chan didn’t pop into my head when I saw Mio (all I could think of was Kagami for some reason … maybe the eyes? D: ).

Come to think of it, you’ve got a good point, but for some reason it doesn’t bother me at all. I guess I’m just naturally biased toward K-ON after seeing the first episode (and subsequently falling for it, even if only for the most subjective and superficial reasons
